Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sheltermouse Solutions LLC ("we," "us") handles information for ShelterPhysics, a web-based physics simulator (the "Service").
The Service is intended for users in the United States. We do not knowingly direct it to, or collect information from, people outside the U.S.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — the name (or display name) and email address you provide when you create an account, plus a one-way cryptographic hash of your password (we never store your actual password).
- Content you create — the models and related settings you build and save in the Service.
- Usage and device data — basic log information such as your IP address, browser type, pages or actions requested, and timestamps, used to run and secure the service.
- Payment information — if you make a voluntary contribution or buy a paid feature, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your card details directly. We do not receive or store your full card number. We keep only a record of the transaction (amount, date, status, a processor reference, and the email you provide at checkout).
- Messages you send us — support or feedback correspondence.
2. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and save your work.
- To create and secure your account and verify your email address.
- To process voluntary contributions and paid features.
- To send you transactional messages (for example, email verification, receipts, security notices, and material changes to these policies).
- To send marketing or update emails only if you opt in, and only until you opt out.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical problems, and to comply with law.
3. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising
We do not serve third-party advertising in ShelterPhysics. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not do these things, there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" choice to offer — there is nothing to opt out of.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use only the cookies needed to run the service (for example, to keep you logged in and to protect forms) and, optionally, functional cookies that remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
5. Payments (Stripe)
Voluntary contributions and paid features are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you pay, you do so on Stripe's secure, hosted checkout; your card information is handled solely by Stripe and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Stripe's handling of your information is governed by its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy). We retain transaction records as needed for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes.
6. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run the service:
- Service providers — such as our web host and Stripe (payments), who process information on our behalf under contract.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfer — if the service is ever transferred to another owner, subject to this Policy.
7. Analytics
We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If we add privacy-respecting analytics in the future, we will configure them without advertising features and update this Policy.
8. Data retention
- Account information and saved content are kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account (see Section 9). Saved content may also be removed if features are reset or if a paid plan you rely on ends; you can export your work at any time to keep your own copies.
- Access and security logs are kept for security and troubleshooting.
- Payment records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes.
- Database backups are kept for disaster recovery.
- Support correspondence is retained for a limited period.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access and correct — view and update your account details in the app.
- Export — export your models using the Service's export feature.
- Delete — delete your account and associated content, either through the app or by contacting us.
- Marketing opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in each such email or your account settings. Transactional emails are sent regardless.
- State privacy rights — depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. We honor these requests and will respond within 45 days (extendable by 45 days on notice). We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so no opt-out of such activity is needed.

10. Security
We protect your information with measures including encryption in transit (TLS), one-way password hashing, session timeouts, rate limiting on sensitive endpoints, and CAPTCHA on sign-up. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify affected users and authorities as required by law in the event of a breach.
11. Children
ShelterPhysics does not require an account, and you can use it without providing personal information such as your name or email. (As with any website, our web server automatically records standard technical logs, including IP address, for security and operation — see Sections 1 and 8.) Accounts are for users 13 and older; we do not knowingly create accounts for, or collect account information from, children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes we may have such information can contact us at privacy@shelterphysics.com.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email and/or an in-app notice before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top reflects the latest version.
